Sabetti Sphurana Yoga®

Theoretical Background

(Also see L.E.P. Theoretical Background)

In the 1980's Sabetti developed Sabetti Sphurana Yoga®. This is a form of yoga resulting from Sabetti's experience that while practicing yoga, performing asanas might not be useful and supportive for everyone. Considering change as the basis of every process, and putting more emphasis on this than on the forms already established, gave direction and form to this type of yoga.

Practical Application

Use and exploration of well-known and more recently developed asanas within the context of Life Energy TherapySM prompted Sabetti to develop a yoga in which every asana is individually adjusted to the person's physical structure and present condition as well as to his/her physical, psychological and spiritual possibilities. Based on these considerations, he developed the concept of self-asanas, which regards each individual at any given time as unique. Thus this concept encourages individual exploration of asanas, instead of adopting already fixed postures. Through asymmetry, intensity and complexity, self-asanas enable the individual to try out and experiment with giving up control and rigidity.

Sphurana Yoga, in a similar way as does Life Energy TherapySM, makes use of endogenous energy to remove blockages and disharmonies. This is done by movements, varying from small to large, which begin from the core and move outward; this supports clearing-out processes on every level (physical, psychological, spiritual). In this way, existing energy blockages are influenced intentionally and are dissolved by certain procedures. The person learns to willfully increase the energy flowing to various parts of the body, to become aware of limits, and to work in a specific and subtle way to extend these limits. Simultaneously, on the one hand stabilizing, and on the other hand dissolving processes are activated: dissolving tension on all levels, finding an inner and outer balance. These dissolution processes enable also less therapeutically experienced people to go beyond (let through) problems to find composure, calmness and peace of mind.
